This is an Imagine 2.0 model of the TerraHawk aircraft, from Gerry
Anderson's "TerraHawks". It will render on a 2 meg machine with room to
spare.
I tried (and tried, and tried) to get the little sod to animate using the
cycle editor, but can I get it to work? No.
Hopefully I should be able to figure it out and upload a cycleobj, but in
the meantime, here are some cel positions. The landing sequence runs over
200 cels (24 frames/sec = 8 and a bit seconds).
Cel 0 - The object as it is now
Cel 100 - Rotate wing group back 40 degrees (X-axis)
Rotate body group back 30 degrees
Rotate leg groups out 20 degrees
Rotate lower leg groups down 50 degrees
Align feet to horizontal
At this point the feet have touched the ground
Cel 125 - TerraHawk in a low to the ground crouch with the body at a 10
degrees from the horizontal slant (Rotate the body group forward 20 degrees)
Cel 200 - The body and wing alignments should be the same as cel 125 but
the position should be higher. Arrange the legs so that they have extended
slightly and the body has risen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The effect of this is:-
0-4 secs : The wings tilt back and the legs extend
5 secs : The feet touch the ground
5-6 secs : The legs act as shock absorbers and bring TerraHawk into a crouch
6-8 secs : The legs extend and the body rises
i.e. a sort of birdlike landing, only a damn great metal bird.
The outer wings only fold down when TerraHawk is sat on the back of
BattleHawk, which does not exist as a model (yet?).
Now, you may have read the doc with my Aliens APC model that gave a list of
future projects. Well, ignore it.
I might create some of them but, not for a while. I'm still deciding what to
do next.
Coming soon....Hopefully.
Incom T-65 X-Wing fighter
-------------------------
Requires 8 meg, the model is finished, but I am not 100% happy with it so
it needs a bit of tweaking. It is very highly detailed and has landing gear.
It also has a cockpit so you could give it a pilot if you have the
patience/memory.
Angel Interceptor
-----------------
From Gerry Anderson's "Captain Scarlet". The Angel Interceptors were flown
by the Angels-Symphony, Melody, Harmony, Rhapsody and Lobotomy. Ha Ha Ha.
Incidentally, I wonder if Captain Scarlet had life insurance. I bet he could
have made an absolute fortune.
Coming as soon as I model the front leg.
Imperial Star Destoyer

Two versions - The 2 meg unmapped and the knobbly 1/3 finished bloody
enormous version.
I hope you like TerraHawk. You can do what you like with it ('cept selling
it) as long as you give me a mention as the model's creator. Oh, and keep
the archive intact if it is distributed.

or email me if you know how to make lots and lots of lovely money from the
3D modelling game, because I could do with it.
